Being a vessel
“But the life of the womb is not all about water. We feel this when we sit firmly on the ground with an upright spine...If we engage the fluid capacity for pelvic movement even as we sit firmly and circle around the vulva, or rock along from pubic bones back to tail bone...we can literally feel the direct connection between the opening to the vagina and the grass, mud, sand, yoga mat, or whatever earth covering on which we happen to be sitting.”
-Yoni Shakti, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli
We are all walking mini-ecosystems; how do we find balance in life?
Even women who are not mothers have the capacity and the opportunity to mother themselves. Men have that capacity. All people have it! In fact, the practice of self-mothering has been one of my biggest inspirations and challenges in my life, even before the birth of my daughter.
We all have mothers, and we all also have the Earth as our mother. I hope all you mamas get some time to feel that connection to your moms, including to Mother Nature, even if it’s just through some potted plants on your porch. Nature is everywhere- we are nature, too! Om tat sat!
Happy Mother’s Day to all you mamas and your mamas, and their mamas. Give thanks for all the mamas who bend over backwards to pass on their love and care.
