“Hello May! Do to our hearts what you do to Earth’s flowers.”
“All the things seem possible in May.”
It’s the eve of a new moon, it’s spring, and it’s my birthday! This time of year sometimes has me scattered, with all the wild exhilaration of spring.
Last month I wrote (somewhat indirectly) about devotion; the core of yoga is about devotion to your practice, to serving others, and to your true Self. I’ll go deeper into other aspects of yoga and devotion in future posts. This month I’ll write about focus, but for now I’d like to pause for a moment of celebration. Let’s celebrate warmer and longer days (well...depending on where you live), the abundance of nature, blooming, and just the overall higher perspective that things around us are always changing. That’s the message of spring, I think.
For me, spring is a time when I want to do everything and I’m under the illusion that I can...until I remember that I can’t. I might not be able to do everything, but I can do everything that I do with all of me: mind, body and spirit. And as I do it, I go with the flow. Moms know all about going with the flow, don’t they? So, yoga mamas, let’s remember that we can go with the flow in our yoga practices. If you don’t feel like you have time to practice, throw down your mat and do a few postures, or just sit on the couch to close your eyes and breath quietly for a few minutes. A little bit of yoga every day goes a long way.
Here’s a little spontaneous flow that came together when my daughter was napping this afternoon. Happy birthday to me:)
And happy yoga-ing to all of you.
